Divine Protection in the Battle

We as Christians must understand that our battle is not against flesh and blood; our battle is not against people.  The true battle that is raging is a spiritual battle against Satan and evil spirits (Ephesians 6:12).  If we don’t acknowledge and understand this fact, we will live a very defeated life on this earth.  You will never deal with the root of the attacks in your life if you are not aware of the real enemy that is trying to kill, steal, and destroy you (John 10:10).  We are in dire need of God’s supernatural protection in this day and hour.  Psalm 91:1 says, “He who dwells or remains in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”  In this verse, “Almighty” comes from the Hebrew word “Shadday,” which means all-powerful.  This Name of God refers to God’s greatness and strength.  It is saying that He is the all-sufficient God, and that He is eternally capable of being all that His people need.  What is it that you need today to put you over into victory?  God is able and willing to supply that need in your life.  With God, nothing is impossible.  Psalms 91:1 refers to the secret place of the Most High.  The secret place of the Most High is found in abiding in Christ.  And when you are abiding in Christ, you are abiding under the shadow of the Almighty.  The secret place is not meant to be a secret from Christians, but a secret or hiding place, a place of protection from our enemies.

We must keep the line of communication open with our Heavenly Father through prayer.  I am convinced that God is so gracious and merciful to His children that He tries to get our attention to warn us of any danger that would try to harm us.  In John 16:13, Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit will tell you, or as the KJV says, show you things to come.  The Holy Spirit is ready and willing to reveal every plan, scheme, and trap that Satan has set for us, our children, our family, and sometimes even for others; especially if you’re interceding for another person.  But we must be sensitive to the voice and promptings of the Holy Spirit.  Isaiah 59:19b says, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”  The Holy Spirit is always with us; He is always on guard for us; He is always ready to lift us up above the attacks of the enemy and negative circumstances.  Psalm 91:11-12 reveals to us that God has given His holy angels charge over us to keep us in all of our ways.  We are not alone in the battles that we face on this earth!  We are soldiers for Jesus Christ on this earth, with the help of a heavenly army.  You may feel alone right now, but who told you that we are supposed to base our faith on emotions?  You may not see the light in the tunnel of your situation right now, but just know that God’s angels are hard at work for you to turn your situation around if you will only stand in faith on God’s Word!  The only way we can lose is if we have a lack of knowledge of God’s Word, are not sensitive to the voice and promptings of the Holy Spirit, or we willingly give up and let the devil have his way without any resistance.

According to John 17:20-23, Our Heavenly Father loves us just as much as He loves His Son Jesus Christ.  Why else would one of the major themes throughout the Bible be for us not to fear or worry?  That is a command for Christians, not a suggestion!  The more you read and study the Word of God, you can’t help but to realize how special and precious you are to your Heavenly Father as His child.  It is interesting to note that the Word of God uses the phrase, “Fear not” 365 times; one “fear not” for every day of the year.  Isn’t that just like our Heavenly Father to put that gold nugget in His Word for His children?  He loves you more than you will ever be able to comprehend.  Settle it in your heart today to lean upon His love and to fully trust Him with child-like faith in the midst of the battles that you encounter.
