Following God's Will
The will of God is defined as God’s desire or plan. Everything that happens on this earth is not necessarily the will of God. If everything that happened on this earth is the will of God, then rape, murder, abuse, and other horrible acts must be God’s desire or plan. That is foolish to think! The Word of God is the will of God. If you want to know what God thinks about a topic, just open the Bible and start reading. One key to find the will of God is to renew your mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2). The Bible is a Book filled with God’s thoughts. Isn’t that what a book is, taking your thoughts and putting them on paper? When you read the Bible, you are filling your mind with God’s thoughts. The whole Bible is the Word of God, not the word of man. Some people reading this article put no more value on the Bible than any other book. Until you overcome that roadblock to your faith, you are on the road of destruction in life. It amazes me to hear how many people who call themselves Christians put little or no value on the Bible. We as Christians are to base our faith upon the written Word of God. It is the Word of Life, and the Word of Faith which we are to live by!
The Bible gives us general guidelines and boundaries of how to live our lives on this earth, but what about the every day personal decisions that we make? Remember this, God wants His people to prosper (3 John 2); He wants His people to live a victorious life on this earth. God wants to lead us as Christians in even our every day decisions. The more you read the Word of God, you are tuning up your spirit man, crucifying your flesh, and are able to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 20:27 says that the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord. In other words, the Holy Spirit is going to lead you through your spirit as a Christian. That is where the Holy Spirit resides in a Christian. This is called being led by the inward witness. Have you ever proceeded with a plan and on the inside you did not have peace about it? That was the Holy Spirit leading you through the inward witness; through your spirit man. An unbeliever can’t trust his spirit man because that sin nature is still present and the Holy Spirit doesn’t live in an unbeliever. The Bible calls an unbeliever a child of the devil. But a child of God can expect to be led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14). There have been many testimonies from Christians who were supposed to board a flight and they didn’t have peace about it. They didn’t get on the airplane and it ended up crashing. Being led by the Holy Spirit could mean life or death in some situations. Colossians 3:15 tells Christians to let the peace of God rule in their heart (spirit). That Greek word that was translated “rule” literally means to umpire. If you don’t have peace about something as a Christian, don’t proceed with that plan. Being led by the Holy Spirit will save you much heartache, pain, and disappointment in your life. Settle it in your heart today to live a life of obedience to the Word of God, and to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. In doing so, you will be a partaker of the abundant life that the Lord Jesus Christ has promised those that love Him!
