Keys to a Victorious Life
There are many
opportunities in life to allow anxiety, fear, and worry to dominate our
thoughts. Maybe it is a stressful job, financial struggle, physical problem, or
a family situation. When we are going through trials, the temptation is to focus
on the negative that is taking place in our lives. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us
to trust in the Lord with all of our heart and lean not unto our own
understanding. Trusting in God is really trusting in His Written Word; the
Bible. When we focus our attention on the problem rather than putting our trust
in what God has said in His Word, in our own mind we are making the problem
bigger than God.
Faith and fear are total opposites of each other. As a Christian, one is either
in faith or in fear. When fear is present, there is either a lack of knowledge
concerning God's will in the situation or simply a lack of trust in His
promises.
According to Romans 10:17, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of
God. When you start reading and hearing the Word of God, faith will begin to
grow within you. The problem that has caused so much stress and worry will begin
to seem small compared to the peace and assurance God offers in His Word to the
Christian. We must line our thoughts up with God's thoughts in our
circumstances. How do we do this? The Bible is a supernatural Book that is full
of God's thoughts. The more you read it, God's thoughts of confidence, victory,
peace, and strength will replace your thoughts of anxiety, fear, and worry.
Once you have built your faith up in God's Word, the next step is to start
speaking it or confessing it with your mouth. Why? The word confession simply
means "to speak the same thing; or to agree with." You must understand that when
you speak words of defeat and negativity, you are giving place to and agreeing
with the devil to attack you even more. However, positive words that are in line
with Scripture will release the power of God in your life. For example, instead
of saying, "I am a failure, I can't do this or that," begin declaring,
"According to Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me." However, there is one major key to mention when dealing with
confessing the promises of God, and that is we must be a doer of the Word and
not a hearer only. You can confess the promises of God all day long, but if you
are living in willful sin as a Christian, that sin is hindering you from
receiving the blessings of God in your life.
Build strong faith by hearing, reading, and studying the Word of God, make sure
the words that you speak are in line with Scripture, and live a life of
obedience to God. As you put these steps into practice, you will see
breakthrough in your situation and live a victorious life.
