God's Will to Heal
Sickness, disease, and bondage never were and never will be God’s desire for mankind. To know if sickness and disease is the will of God or not, you need to find out when and how these came about. They certainly were not part of God’s original creation with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Sickness, disease, and bondage entered this earth when Adam and Eve sinned against God by eating the forbidden fruit. You could say this; sin was the gate that allowed the curse to enter this world. Galatians 3:13 says that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. To say that sickness, disease, and bondage are the will of God, you would then have to conclude that sin must be the will of God. That is foolish to think! Adam and Eve had a free-will and they chose to disobey God’s command. The fact is, God hates sickness and disease just as much as He hates sin! They are lumped in the same category; the fruit of Adam and Eve’s sin. Sickness and disease are referred to as a curse in the Bible (Deut. 28:15-68), never a blessing. However, health and healing are referred to as blessings or benefits from God (Psalms 103:2-5)!
The Bible is very clear that a lack of knowledge of God’s Word can invite destruction in your life (Hosea 6:4a). If a lack of knowledge can bring destruction, then knowledge of God’s Word can bring health and prosperity! Until you settle it in your heart from God’s Word that He wants you to live a victorious life, you will never have the faith you need to be a partaker of the benefit of divine healing. God’s Word is very clear that He demands faith in His Word. Faith is very important. The promises of God are not just automatic. We must take hold of them with our faith. And you can only have faith for something that you know belongs to you as a child of God.
Consider James 5:14-15 as another piece of evidence. It says, “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord (Jesus): And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” If sickness and disease are the will of God, why would God make a provision for healing such as this in His Word? I want you to notice that a prayer for healing is referred to as a prayer of faith. This is very important because you can only pray the prayer of faith for something that you know is promised to you in the Word of God. If you don’t know it is God’s will, you will simply be praying in hope and not faith. Faith is a knowing, not a guessing game. For example, the salvation prayer is a prayer of faith. You knew that it was God’s will for you to be saved, so you prayed in confidence knowing His will in the matter. You never use the words “If it be thy will” in the prayer of faith; because a prayer of faith already knows it is His will. So in James 5:15 a prayer for healing is referred to as a prayer of faith. Evidently, God thinks that He has put enough evidence in His Word that will allow us to pray the prayer of faith and not an “If it be thy will” prayer. The evidence in the Word of God overwhelmingly points to the fact that God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, has made a provision for healing and an abundant life! Study the Bible for yourself to discover the benefits that belong to you as a child of God!
