Equipped for the Battle
In 2 Timothy 2:3 the Word of God refers to Christians as soldiers. This is not a war in the natural, but in the spiritual realm. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Many Christians don’t take this spiritual battle seriously. Some are more focused on things in the natural realm at the cost of neglecting the warfare that is taking place in the spiritual realm. Some churches never teach about Satan and demonic spirits; who they are, what they do, and what their tactics are. Ignorance is not bliss in this case. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” God does not want us lacking knowledge about our spiritual enemies. It would be disastrous if our military ignored information about the enemies of the USA; how much more for Christians in the spiritual sense that are battling a supernatural enemy.
Many believers are afraid of Satan and evil spirits. Some even use the excuse that you are bringing glory to the enemy if you are talking about them. That is a foolish and ignorant statement. That is exactly what the enemy wants, to go unexposed so that they can operate freely without opposition. In His earthly ministry, Jesus talked about the enemy quite a bit and confronted them head on. I feel sorry for Christians who are not being equipped properly to be victorious on this earth. Rather, we have some churches and denominations that are ordaining gay & lesbian ministers, those that approve of abortion, and those that pick and choose doctrine from the Bible that won’t offend people or that won’t conflict with their traditions. Satan and evil spirits really take pleasure and benefit in those situations! The teachings in the Bible will at times offend people. There is no way around it, especially if it conflicts with their unscriptural traditions and worldly mindsets. Hopefully it offends and motivates those people enough to study the Bible for themselves!
To be effectively equipped for this spiritual battle we are in, you need to take advantage of all of the information and every benefit that God has to offer the Christian. You need to be taught about the importance of and receive the Holy Spirit baptism, the authority of the believer, the importance of tongues, spiritual gifts, divine healing, casting out demons, demonic possession, generational curses, curses, evil soul-ties, and accursed things. If you are not being taught these most basic truths from the Bible, you are not being fully equipped with the knowledge that you need to do battle against Satan and demonic spirits, and how to minister effectively to others.
