Amazing Love
I can’t quite comprehend, Lord
How You can love me no matter what I do
That You were willing to die for me
So that I could live eternally with You
I just don’t understand
How I deny You day to day
Yet you still chose to give Your life
To offer me another way
How can You love me so much
That even Yourself You denied?
I let You down so often, Lord
Why were You willing to die?
Choosing You brings total freedom
An abundant life is assured
All because You took my sins
And suffered a pain that I deserved
You were bruised for my iniquities
I am healed because You were beaten
Cold nails were driven into Your hands and feet
So that I could be forgiven
You were faithful even unto death
Your promise You brought forth
If only I could do the same for You
But so often I fall short
I’m so unworthy of Your greatness
Next to You my filthiness is seen
I am nothing without Your covering
Only by Your blood am I made clean.
